LA PARTITA A SCACCHI VIVENTE DI MAROSTICA
La vicenda della Partita a scacchi vivente risale al 1454 quando due nobili si innamorarono contemporaneamente della figlia del Castellano di Marostica e si sfidarono in un duello.
Il Castellano decise di dare la figlia in sposa a colui che avesse vinto una partita a scacchi. La rievocazione si svolge in forma di una partita a scacchi vivente tenuta ogni due anni nella piazza del Castello con la presenza di oltre 550 figuranti in abiti d’epoca: nobili, popolani, cavalieri, alabardieri, musici, damigelle, ecc.

The story of the Chess Match dates back to 1454 when two noblemen fell in love with the daughter of the Lord of the Castle of Marostica and challenged each other to a duel.
Instead, the Lord of the Castle decided that he would give his daughter’s hand to the winner of a chess match. Over 550 re-enactors – chess pieces, noblemen, knights, flag bearers, musicians, pages and others in period costume – give life to a two-hour show held every two years in the square outside the Lower Castle.
